When staying at home the majority of the time, it can be hard to find something entertaining to watch. After a while of having Netflix, I watched all the mainstream series and famous documentaries/films. Don’t get me wrong, I love the variety of content available on this platform, but sometimes I prefer watching shorter videos rather than 1-hour episodes of a programme. So I created for you my list of favourite channels from YouTube for when you’d like to watch shorter videos and still be entertained.

The Late Late Show with James Corden
The comedian and late-night host James Corden created this channel with several amusing videos featuring celebrities, singers and influencers. This is great content when you want to have a laugh but don’t have access to the TV channel where his show is broadcast. He provides different types of content, like playing dodgeball with celebrities, the new #HomeFest series where he interviews guests or singers perform songs from home. But my two favourites are Carpool Karaoke where he invites famous singers (e.g. Adele, Harry Styles, Justin Bieber) to join him in his car and sing along to their greatest hits while interviewing them. And the other famous series is Spill Your Guts where VIPs and the host ask each other questions and they can choose whether to answer it or eat a disgusting food. The questions are related to their career, personal life and rumours about them so, it makes the game really entertaining to watch.
Hyram

I discovered his channel accidentally when I was searching reviews of The Ordinary products. I never heard of this brand and wanted to see if their products were effective, especially when the price range is so low. So I started watching one of Hyram’s videos and quickly understood that he wasn’t one of those random YouTube users where they just say if it works for their skin or not. He explains why he likes and doesn’t like a product referring to their ingredients and their effects on the skin.
Plus, he creates reviews about famous brands so you can learn more about them and hopefully make the right choice for your skin. But don’t worry if you know nothing about ingredients and the science behind them, because I didn’t either. He explains everything easily so that everyone can understand the importance of knowing the product before buying it. Along his YouTube channel, he also created the Skin Care Junkie which is a community for people to learn about ingredients, solve skin concerns, discover brands’ discounts. It’s a great and simple way to be more aware about what you’re putting on your skin!
Vox

Sometimes when I’m looking at YouTube I like to watch digital journalism to know about different topics worldwide. I really like this channel as it combines high-quality audio-visual material while presenting it in an easy and simple way so that everyone can understand. The channel has different series of videos, like the new Coronavirus one explaining the different aspects of the pandemic and the Glad You Asked (where journalists answer common questions people have about the world – like ‘What happens when we die?’ Or ‘How does the internet work?’). Plus, experts also explain the politics of different countries through the Vox Atlas series while the Open Sourced videos focus on the advantages and disadvantages of technology. The videos are around 10 min long max so, it’s a quick and informative way of learning about news and world curiosities.
