My film review the film directed by David Fincher.

Panic room was released on the 29th March 2002 in the USA and was directed by David Fincher who contributed to films such as Alien 3, Gone Girl and Fight Club. The excellent director didn’t let us down with this gripping thriller starring Jodie Foster, Kristen Stewart, Forest Whitaker, Dwight Yoakam, Jared Leto and Kristen Stewart. The cast worked beautifully together and made sure that the film is one of the best products ever distributed by Columbia Pictures.
For its huge success, the film was nominated by the Art Directors Guild for the Excellence in Production Design for a Contemporary Film award and, furthermore, by the prestigious Online Film Critics Society Award for Best Editing. Its trailer was much appreciated as it won the Best Horror/Thriller film trailer at the 3rd Golden Trailer. Whereas for acting, Jodie Foster was nominated for a Saturn Award for Best Actress.
Panic Room was as well cherished by the world-famous website Rotten Tomatoes: ‘Elevated by Fincher's directorial talent and Foster's performance, Panic Room is a well-crafted, above-average thriller’ with an average rating of 6.9 out of 10.
The film presented the survival journey of a mother (Jodie Foster) and daughter (Kristen Stewart) in a new house in the cosmopolitan city of New York for the first time. Unfortunately, during their first night there the house was broken into by three burglars who were played by Forest Whitaker, Jared Leto, and Dwight Yoakam. Only at this time of emergency mother and daughter will find the panic room useful, or so they thought…
The setting of the film is realistic, and the actresses and actors work well together to suggest suspense and tension to the audience. The inclusions of the background music and some slow-motion scenes help keep the watchers engaged in watching the film to see what will happen next. The script had some jokes between the women and men and, as well, taboo language, which helped create a not too serious approach of the content for the public. The mother and the daughter show that they are close and smart as they try to figure out a way to get the burglars out of the house, but the thieves aren’t themselves so stupid.
However, the film created tension excessively and a lot of scenes weren’t so full of action as they could have been. The plot wasn’t that interesting overall, and the conclusion of the film was quite obvious, although the plot had a lot of twists.
The film was really entertaining as I am a fan of the thriller genre myself. The cast was well chosen for the roles, and the camera and music effects helped to make the film more entertaining and gripping. The inclusion of a few action scenes made the final product more interesting and the setting made it look realistic to the audience , possibly making them wonder what they would do if the same thing happened to them. As my final judgement, I would give it a 4.5/5 stars.
