Here's a savoury snack that tastes like pizza and can also accompany any meal thanks to its authentic Italian origins. These breadsticks are perfect to eat in a hurry or at home with your family/partner. Either way, you'll love them!

Ingredients

For the dough:

500 gr bread flour

260 ml lukewarm water

12gr yeast

1 teaspoon of sugar

50 gr extra virgin olive oil

A pinch of salt

For the sauce:

2 teaspoons of double concentrate tomato puree

Water

Oregano

Extra virgin olive oil

A pinch of salt

Method

Mix the yeast and sugar in 60ml of lukewarm water and put it aside while pouring the flour in a separate bowl. Make a well in the centre (of the flour) and pour the yeast mix along with the remaining 200ml of lukewarm water. Now mix the flour and water, until a smooth dough is obtained.

Once the dough is moulded into a ball, transfer it to a work surface and add salt and gradually the oil. After kneading it patiently, you’ll obtain a smooth and soft dough. Then, roll out the dough and cover it with a tea towel for an hour. In the meantime, mix the tomato puree with some water, add oregano, a tablespoon of oil and a pinch of salt.

After the dough has finished rising, knead the base (possibly with your hands covered in oil, so it won’t stick) and roll it out.

Pour the tomato mix evenly on the dough.

Finally, cut the dough into similar stripes with a knife. Heat oven to 200 degrees.

Transfer your stripes to a baking tray (on an oiled-up baking parchment) and let them cook for 20 min.

And the final result will be delicious tomato breadsticks perfect for snacks and/or to accompany a colourful salad (that’s my favourite combination).
